Thematic seminar „Between East and West: Turkey's foreign policy in reflection of its domestic policies“

Zagreb, 9th of December 2015 – From 3rd to 4th of December, a meeting of the Working Group on Enlargement and the European Neighborhood Policy (WG ENL/ENP) as well as a thematic seminar „Between East and West: Turkey's foreign policy in reflection of its domestic policies" were held in Istanbul.

The seminar was an opportunity to analyze the domestic politics of Turkey with regards to the recent electoral victory of AKP which solidified the position and power of President Erdogan. In addition to members of the WG ENL/ENP, the topic was discussed by representatives of NGOs, media, the academic community as well as representatives of German foundations that are currently active in Turkey. For the second part of the seminar, there was talk on Turkey's foreign policy with a special focus on the Cyprus issue, the Kurdish peace process and Turkey-EU relationship in light of the refugee crisis.

The International Educational Center and the Political Academy of HNS was represented by Goran Neralić, president of the Center and associate at the Academy.
