In addition to the elections, ALDE Congress was an opportunity for European liberals to make important decisions and discuss critical issues for Europe and the world. On the proposal of the ALDE Council, the Congress decided to adopt changes to the Statues of the ALDE Party, opening a chance for the Party to contest the next elections for the European Parliament with a single candidate for the position of president of the European Commission and under a single political manifesto for all member parties.

ALDE Congress in Budapest was also very productive for LIBSEEN, the network of liberal parties in Southeast Europe, which is chaired by Vesna Pusić, president of HNS. More concretely, ALDE Council approved the membership application of ALD party from Romania that became a LIBSEEN member in 2014 on the Leaders Meeting in Zagreb. ALDE Party also adopted a LIBSEEN resolution, carried by MRF, calling for a renewed impetus in the enlargement policy of the European Union, especially with regards to countries of the Western Balkans.

HNS was represented on the ALDE Congress by a delegation headed by Boris Blažeković, head of the Political Academy of HNS and the international officer of HNS.
