Held the first module of the Regional Political Academy for Young Liberals

akademija ndi skupna webZagreb, 9th December 2014 – In Belgrade from 5th to 7th December was held the first module of the Regional Political Academy for young liberals organized by NDI, IDI and the Liberal Democratic Party of Serbia on topic "Strengthening youth organizations of liberal parties through the development of the capacity to create local policies", for which the Political Academy received an invitation.

The three-day seminar analyzed how political party can and should maintain a presence on the local level, although not present in national parliaments, but also how the development of policies at the municipal or county level is differently organized than the one at the top of the party.

The seminar started with the topic of political parties and ICT - online policy development of political parties, where to those present addressed Jared Ford, a member of the ICT team NDI Washinton DC. Maja Demšić, Head for Culture of the City of Ljubljana, gave a lecture on the role of local government and local councilors and introduced everyone to the political situation in Slovenia. Maja Nenadović, president of women's initiatives of IDS and Mladen Popović from NDI Bosnia and Herzegovina led group work and debate in which one of the problem at the local level and its possible solution was analyzed. On policy development and the role of public opinion and policy implementation spoke Vladimir Pavlović.

The goal of Regional Political Academy is that in the course of ten months, participants gain the skills of research, analysis and writing practical and public policy with an emphasis on practical policy in the local branches of parties. In this way, members of political parties, who want to learn more about the policy development process and improving their leadership skills of policy research and writing a program of local policies, will be motivated, encouraged and stimulated to action. The program consists of teaching and practical modules, participants will with the help of their mentors, who will provide them with guidance and advice, choose a theme that they will process during ten months working alone or in a team. Upon completion of the research the same are in charge to present a selected topic at the next module. Upon completion of the program from participants is expected to continue through their political parties to promote the proposals and present their policy of research at the appropriate level.

Matija Posavec Prefect of MeÄ‘imurska county attended the congress as one of the trainers who spoke about leadership and work of his county, as well as the problems and obstacles that may be encountered, and the solutions for the same. The event was attended by representatives of youth organizations of liberal parties from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Macedonia, as well as guest speakers from England, Hungary and Slovenia. In front of the Political Academy CPP 's Youth was represented by Matija ZamljaÄanec from Koprivnica, Ines Vrbanić from ÄŒazma and Morena Mudrinić and Dajan Delić from Primorsko-goranska County.
