„What can cities, municipalities and regions do to better their economic development“

opatija lovretic webZagreb, October 24, 2014 – From October 17 to 19 in Hotel Grand Adriatic II in Opatija, a seminar was held on the theme of „What can cities, municipalities and regions do to better their economic development".

Seminar on which participated the liberal regional councillors of countries of Western Balkans was organized by the German liberal foundation Friedrich Naumann for Freedom, while the Political Academy was represented by Marko Lovretić, councillor of the Council of the City of Opatija.

Participants in the seminar discussed several themes such as elections in BiH, development of cities and municipalities in Croatia and BiH as well as competitiveness of cities and municipalities in Germany with an aim of finding ways to promote economic development. A workshop was also held on the theme of cross-border cooperation of cities and municipalities of the region with a goal of promoting economic development.

Lecture was given by Manfred Richter, member of the Governing Board of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and former mayor of the city of Bremerhafen. The two-day event was moderated by Dušan Dinić, regional coordinator of the Foundation for countries of Western Balkans.

Seminar was concluded with a talk on themes and forms of future meetings of politicians of Western Balkans countries.
