Zagreb, 5th of May 2014 - Organized by the German liberal Foundation Friedrich Naumann and Theodor Heuss Academy, in Gummersbach a seminar entitled "Profiling political liberalism as an effective force of progress" was held, from 28th April to 3rd May.
Participants of seminar were activists from liberal think tanks and parties, and a seminar was organized through a series of lectures, workshops and debates related to the definition of liberal thought and policy in relation to the challenges of social and economic progress.
The tasks of liberals are to define alternative in relation to the socialist and conservative policies that are skeptical and restrictive towards progress, concluded the seminar participants.
Liberals, as such, are advocates of freedom of thought, creativity and innovation, and they see progress through a series of market solutions that create private and NGO sector. Liberals see the role of the state through a minimum framework set up for market competition and the elimination of regulatory barriers that can slow down research and innovation potential.
This was the first seminar from series of International Academy for Leadership (IAF) workshops dedicated to contemporary challenges of liberalism. The purpose of these seminars and workshops is to analyze these challenges in order to develop responses that are both ambitious and recognizably liberal.
Daniel Hinšt, a member of the Central Committee of the CPP represented CPP's Political academy at the seminar.
