König: I'm proud of our CPP's Women's Initiative!

Zagreb, 27th November 2014. "You need to be more actively involved in politics and work on your self-confidence", said at the beginning of her lecture at the Academy president of Women's Initiative and CPP's Member of Parliament Sonja König to present members of Women's Initiatives of CPP's Sisačko-moslavačka county organization who visited the Croatian Parliament and the Academy.
Speaking of women's representation in politics König began her presentation with Article 14 of the Croatian Constitution, which states that everyone in the Republic of Croatia has rights and freedoms, regardless of race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, education, social status or other characteristics.
"Women are daily faced with the problem of inequality. The percentage of women in the Croatian Parliament today is higher than the first convened and is 25 percent. Of 151 members, Croatian Parliament has 37 female parliamentary representatives", said König and continued about odds and the representation of women on the lists.
Speaking of politics as "men's club", CPP's president of Women's Initiative and parliamentarian presented an overview of opinions on the general level of equality between men and women in Croatia as well as the number of women MPs in the Croatian Parliament and pointed out the percentage of women in the parliaments of the Member States of the European Union. Speaking about the factors that affect the entry of women in parliaments, König stated political, socio-economic and socio-cultural factor and concluded that all are equal before the law and that gender equality means that women and men are equally present in all spheres of public and private life, they have equal status, equal opportunities to realize their rights, and equal benefit from the achieved results.
"When there are only few women in politics, women change. When there are a lot of women in politics, politics change", ended König her lecture with the slogan of Argentine feminists, and praised and highlighted activity and significant contribution of CPP's Women's Initiative Sisak and Sisačko-moslavačka County in the work and quality of the party.
Before the lecture in the Academy, members of Women's initiative of Sisačko-moslavačka County visited the Croatian Parliament where they were greeted and welcomed by Stanko Borić, Secretary of the Club and Ivica Jakopiček, associate from the Office of the vice president of Croatian Parliament.
After the tour they attended the session in the gallery, where there was discussion about the Final Act proposal on amendments of the law on the financing in local and regional government on an expedited basis.
In the premises of CPP's Club representative they met members of Parliament Milorad Batinić, Nada Turina Đurić, Boris Blažeković, Srđan Gjurković. Sonja König was their host during the entire visit of CPP's Women's Initiative of Sisačko-moslavačka County.
MPs spoke about the work of the Club and parliamentary departments and committees. Special emphasis was placed on responsibilities and difficulties in the work that accompany MPs, as well as work conditions. All MPs stressed that their job is much more extensive than shown. This work includes field work, communication with citizens, work in parliamentary committees and also the relationship with the media, but in each of these, the interests of the party are represented.
"We need to work even more on our personality and know commend our work", said at the end Adelina Ivković, president of the Women's Initiative of Sisačko-moslavačka county and thanked all members of parliament for their hospitality.
The event was held within the 3rd Department of the Academy with the aim of organizational strengthening of the party.Next visit organized by CPP's Political Academy will be held next Wednesday when CPP's Koprivničko-križevačka county organisation will visit Croatian Parliament and the Academy.
