Požega, 3rd February 2015 - "The foundations on which the agricultural production was built in the past 25 years obviously is not good, and this is primarily related to the age structure of the family farms that make only six percent of young economies. Ways of organizing and joining small family farms is the key to change the situation in agriculture for the better. In that case it will be possible to withdraw more money from the EU. The criteria must be entrepreneurial spirit, competitiveness and quality", said the parliamentarian of the CPP and vice president of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture Ivica Mandić.
Mandić visited Požega in organisation of CPP's Political Academy, its 2nd Department of advanced education in general policy, and participated in a panel discussion entitled "Croatian Agriculture: Legal procedures and regulations", on which he gave CPP's point of view on this topic.
"None of the political options, that have led the Ministry of Agriculture from the 90s, means 25 years, found quality solutions in terms of sustainable agriculture, especially in rural areas. Production in this period is decreased by 50 percent", said Mandić.
Problems in which there are, the difficulties they face because of a series of new regulations, especially when it comes to small family farms, on this occasion were presented by representatives of the Association of producers of cluster Zlatna dolina, owners of family farms, as well as representatives of the Advisory Agricultural Service in Požeško-slavonska County.
"CPP considers that the family farms are more interested in the process of land consolidation from any of the public administration and we expect that in the second parliamentary reading the law will be accepted", concluded Mandić.
