Rijeka, 17th of April 2014 - " The participation of women in all spheres of social life is significant, so I invite you all to be more actively involved in politics", said Sonja König, Member of Parliament and president of the CPP's Women Initiative at a lecture titled "Women and Politics".
Basing her lecture on gender equality as a fundamental human right as it ensures equal opportunities and combats sex discrimination, König pointed out that we are all equal before the law .
"All are equal before the law. Gender equality means that women and men are equally represented in all spheres of public and private life, they have equal status and equal opportunities to realize their rights, and equal benefit of the results achieved", said König.
Talking about women's representation in politics König was led by the Article 14 of the Croatian Constitution that says how everyone in the Republic of Croatia shall enjoy rights and freedoms, regardless of race, color, sex , language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, education, social status or other characteristics.
"With lectures and public discussions within the Academy we want to present the work of the CPP's Women Initiative to the public.
