Blažeković: You have chosen the people for the improvement of their local communities in the best possible way

bb koprivnicaKoprivnica, 13th of May – "Koprivničko-križevačka county shows positive improvements in the last few months, and I especially hope that these improvements will be followed by election results on the impending local elections", said Boris Blažeković, CPP's parliamentary representative in Koprivnica, giving support to Melita Samoborec, CPP's candidate for deputy Mayor of Koprivnica, and other candidates for executive and representative bodies.

He added that all events on Croatia's political scene are subservient to this week's local elections, highlighting that he is convinced that there is a real possibility that CPP achieves up to a twenty percent better result.

"CPP in Koprivničko-križevačka county and Koprivnica is going out on the elections in a coalition consisting of CPP – SDP – CRP – CSLP, and in as much as 7 municipalities it is going out independently. I believe that you have truly chosen the best people, who will represent CPP and work for the improvement of their local communities in the best possible way. However, the most important breakthrough is that on these local elections CPP has a candidate for executive authority in Koprivnica. Our Melita Samoborec, president of CPP's Koprivničko-križevačka CO, will become Koprivnica's deputy Mayor", said Blažeković.

CPP's parliamentary representative especially highlighted that the number of CPP's councilmen and women in representative bodies, as well as the number of executive dignitaries on a local level, has grown form one local election to the next and a need for their education and upgrade in the party's framework arose.

"That is why the Political Academy of the Croatian's People's Party was started and founded in 2005, as a unique political institution in Croatia. CPP has always put special emphasys on education and education culture on all levels. All of CPP's programmes were based and still are based on education as the only possible starting assumption for a successful economy", concluded Blažeković.

After the press conference, Blažeković held a public discussion titled "Liberalism and CPP's position in Croatia" on which he spoke about the basic ideas of liberalism, the stereotypes which accompany it and liberal problematics. He put special emphasys on the importance of the relationship between liberalism and the state and the question of the difference between liberalism and other ideologies. He also touched upon the relationship between liberal policy and the individual, the civil society and the state.

The public discussion was held as part of the Academy's 2nd Department for additional education in general politics organised by CPP's Political Academy and CPP's Koprivničko-križevačka county.
