Blažeković: I expect significantly more from Vukovar than would be the case in other circumstances

vukovar liberalizamVukovar, 16th of April – "This is probably CPP's youngest team. This is a team which, as much as I see, has a huge amount of positive energy and my expectations from them are significantly higher than would be the case in other circumstances. We hope that they will succeed in their intentions and that they will mobilise their supporters and people of similar interests and thus succeed in accumulating a sufficient number of voters who will vote for them on the local elections", said Boris Blažeković, parliamentary representative and CPP Political Academy's director on a press conference in Vukovar.

Vukovar's citizens, by his words, will certainly recognize the team of young CPP members, because those are the people who completely understand the time and place in which they find themselves, as well as the political and economic processes.

"They are the future of Vukovar, and due to their enthusiasm, hustle and work, they are also the future for Croatia's story.", said Blažeković and commended the political work of the party leadership in the town on the Danube.

Thanking his esteemed guest and party colleague on his kind words, the president of Vukovar's CPP and the seeder of the list in Vukovar, Nenad Bučko, highlighted that the party in Vukovar promotes young people.

"We are a heterogeneous group of people and it is in this way that we create our political story. There is a great number of enterpreneurs, professors and educated people in CPP. We have support from Zagreb and we have chosen this path ourselves. We have the strength, will and desire to change the image of Vukovar and the entire eastern area of Croatia. What we have achieved in this short period of time in the political sense has been recognised by more than 200 people who have joined the party. Luckily, they continue to do so", concluded Bučko.

In the continuation, Blažeković commented on the past European parliamentary elections on which the SDP/CPP/CRP coalition won five mandates.

"We have entered these elections on a relaxed note because of a deception by the surveys which were published prior to the elections, where it was said that this coalition will achieve a landslide victory and that the voter turn-out would be sixty percent, which was proven as incorrect. The surveys were wrong. We have achieved a result which isn't tragic in relation to CDU, but is an electionary loss and that has to be a roadsign to all of us for further work", asserted Blažeković.

The local elections which will be held on the 19th of May are already a roadsign. When it comes to Vukovar, Blažeković believes and expects good results thanks to the young people who are at the head of CPP and whom he has come to offer political support on the eve of the pre-election campaign.

A call was given to the citizens from the press conference to the citizens to go out to the election on the 19th of May and give their vote to the young and ambitious who have the future ahead of them and a new "City of people".

The press conference was attended by Zdenka Poljak, branch vice-president, and Vjekoslav Ferdebar, member of Vukovar branch's Presidency.

After the press conference, Blažeković held a public discussion titled "Liberalism and CPP's position in Croatia" on which he spoke about the basic ideas of liberalism, the stereotypes that accompany it and liberal problematics. He put special emphasys on the importance of the relationship between liberalism and the state and the question of the difference of liberalism and other ideologies. He also touched upon the relationship between liberal policy and the individual, liberal policy and civil society, liberal policy and the state and at the end the viewpoints of liberal politics in questions of the formations of international relations.

After Vukovar, he held a lecture in Vinkovci's City Hall about the work and its difficulties in branch presidents' work where he highlighted that branches in the areas of their units of self-governance make their own lists and pick their own candidates and deputy candidates of CPP for Municipality Heads, mayors and for elections into representative bodies of local self-governance units in harmony with the Statute and decisions of the party's authoritative bodies towards the coming local elections.

"The branches make their own decisions about inter-party agreements about cooperation and mutual election outings, in the area of their own unit of self-governance, in harmony with CPP's general policy", concluded Blažeković.

The Vukovar public discussion was held as part of the Academy's 2nd Department for additional education in general politics, organised by the Vukovar branch's team, and the Vinkovci lecture as part of the Academy's 3rd Department for the organisational strengthening of the party which was attended by presidents and secretaries of Vukovarsko-srijemska county's branches, as well as the members of Vinkovci branch with the branch president Ivo Bikić at their head.
