Zagreb, 11th of October 2013 - An international conference titled "European political foundations: For mobilisation of the citizens and development of political culture" took place in Ljubljana on the 10th and 11th of October. The organizers of the conference were the liberal political foundation Novum from Ljubljana and the European Liberal Forum.
Since the current discussion in Slovenia pertains the adoption of the Law of political foundations, ELF and Novum have organised a discussion about the possibilities of mobilisation of liberal-democratic political body and development of liberal political culture in Europe, with the help of political foundations and think-tanks, as well as the relationship between parties and foundations.
The conference was also subject to talk about the European practice of financing and organising political foundations. The work of several influential foundations was presented, such as the German liberal foundation Friedrich Naumann, the Dutch Hans van Mierlo, the Estonian Liberal academy, and CPP's Political Academy was represented in that good company. There was also talk about the experiences of acting of liberal think-tanks, such as Belgradian Center for euro-atlantic studies, the Macedonian center for european training, and in the continuation of the conference there was discussion about the relationship of "competing" world-view foundations in Slovenia.
The work of the European Liberal Forum was specially presented, a European political foundation, which, in cooperation with domicile political foundations acts in all member states of the Union, and in Croatia as the newest member it hasn't yet formally begun working.
