Zagreb, November 2 2015 – On Friday, October 30, in Brussels, a consultative meeting of ENoP's working group for development aid was held with representatives of the European Commission from DG DEVCO.
On the meeting, representatives of ENoP informed the newly appointed head of unit for civil society and local government Rosario Bento Pais and her associates about the recent activities of the Network in the field of development aid. This was an opportunity to emphasize the specific role and contribution of political foundations in the field of development aid and cooperation.
Representatives of ENoP underlined that foundations are a link between public policymaking, global markets and civil society and that they raise awareness on development problems. Representatives of the Commission announced that a Policy Forum will be held in March 2016, which will serve as a platform for a dialogue of local authorities and civil society. It is hoped that the event will result in concrete common actions aimed at achieving sustainable development.
As one of the founding members of ENoP, the IEC and the Political Academy of HNS on the consultation meeting with the European Commission was represented by Katarina Ormuž, research associate of the IEC.
