Zagreb, 30th September 2015 – In cooperation of CPP, its Political Academy and ALDE party, on 28th and 29th September in Zagreb was held workshop entitled "The campaign for the parliamentary elections".
Steps for winning the elections, contact with voters and working with social media - are just some of the topics of the two-day training which was attended by CPP representatives from all constituencies. They have worked in three groups led by ALDE experts from Brussels, and participants have pointed out that the workshop was useful and met expectations.
The goal of the elections that are ahead of you is to change Croatia, and therefore Europe, and make them a better place to live, said the manager for the campaign and strengthening the capacity of the ALDE party Joakim Frantz, whose lecture focused on the importance of good planning and the use of acquired knowledge.
"We're not here to tell you what you will say to your voters, but are here to talk to you about the new ways of running for the parliamentary elections. We are here to set up challenges before you and to help you", said in his lecture consultant for the campaign of ALDE party Ian Marquardt. Through five short lessons supported by examples of good and bad campaigns of European liberal parties, Marquardt spoke about the importance of the elections, especially in the case when, as in Croatia, for the first time in parliamentary elections the MPs are elected by preferential voting.
You can not take anything for granted, he said citing the examples of those who have done it and ended ingloriously. "They have not changed anything, have not led a strong campaign and lost. We do not want that to happen to CPP. We want the CPP to be a role model and an example of the success to others. It depends on you. You are the ones who have to go out there and talk to the voters", said Marquardt. He said, among other things, that for the quality campaign it is essential to have a campaign manager, a campaign calendar, volunteers, people who will help, in one word - organization. "If you work alone, you'll probably lose", he concluded.
About online work and social media participants had the opportunity to learn from a communication consultant of ALDE party and expert in digital media and social networks of ALDE party Daniel Tanahatoea. "What you do offline, should be online", said Tanahatoe.
"Throughout the two-day seminar extra preparation for the campaign and getting preferential votes in the parliamentary elections was made, and all the knowledge that the participants gained on this training they will be able to use in any situation, from everyday public life to the upcoming election campaign", concluded the head of the Central Office of CPP Žarko Stilin.
CPP and ALDE party cooperate intensively since the 90s, and that cooperation was intensified by the establishment of CPP's Political Academy in 2005. Since then experts of ALDE party regularly participate in trainings, discussions and lectures on different topics, bringing to Croatia their experts and providing an opportunity for members of the CPP to learn from the best and to be ahead of time as far as political marketing, PR, and general political communication.
