The economic crisis and local government

PoreÄ, 14th October – Seminar on topic „The economic crisis and local government" was organized by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom for representatives in local in regional government, for liberal parties of the Western Balkans in PoreÄ from 12th to 14th October.

 

The seminar also discussed the forms of economic crisis, the consequences for the local government, and how in this crisis period to communicate with citizens. Manfred Richter, a former mayor of the City of Bremerhaven in the Republic of Germany, introduced the present participants from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo with the details how he recognized the crisis n his city that has "hit" the shipbuilding industry, fish and fisheries, which was interesting because the participants are able to identify state in its local government.

 

In the afternoon a workshop on "Communication in times of crisis" was conducted, where the participants are divided into groups, devised a hypothetical crisis in local government and have had to offer models to solve the same through messages to the voters and media presentations.

Further part was a talk of future meetings of local liberal politicians of the Western Balkans. The seminar was moderated by Dušan Dinić, Regional Coordinator of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, who praised CPP's Political Academy noting CPP as the only liberal party of the Western Balkans, which educates its officials in local and regional government.

Generally they discussed of the cooperation of CPP's Political Academy and LDP from Serbia. At the seminar it was concluded to define the seminar coordinators who will in the future at this type of training talk about problems, using an organization that could be called WeBweb.

Croatian People's Party - Liberal Democrats, and the Academy was represented by Veljko IvanÄić, deputy mayor of the city of Umag and Žarko Stilin, Secretary of CPP Istarsko-primorsko-goransko-liÄko-senjskog regional alliance.
