pozega poljoprivreda webPožega, 4th of November 2013 - "As a parliamentary representative of all of Croatia's citizens and member of the Committee for agriculture my duty obliges me to work on agricultural issues. Why agriculture? Because it is my deep conviction that there can be no solution to the question of Croatia without the solution of agriculture", he said at the beginning of the public discussion on agriculture.

The discussion was opened by Damir Kovačević, acting president of CPP's Požeško-slavonska County and highlighted that Baranović shall channel his knowledge and experience through discussion with everyone present through the Committee for agriculture.

"The discussion on agriculture is the first in a series of public discussions as part of the Academy throughout Slavonia, and I wish a successful further tour of County centres of the Slavonsko-baranjski regional alliance to our parliamentary representative", highlighted Kovačević.

Baranović spoke in the continuation about the connection between the economy, agriculture and employment, as well as farmers key issues.

"Everyone who is politically responsible for this country, and lives in the illusion that without a permanent agrosystem and a well sorted agriculture the question of the economy and employment in Croatia can be solved, is horribly mistaken. It is an impossible mission. The key issue is that the Croatian farmer doesn't hold his fate in his own hands. As long as farmers don't fight for the management of their products, their marketing, for normal market circulation, wholesellers in Croatia, who were created by the privatisation policy, will never take pity over the farmers' fate", continued Baranović and highlighted that that isn't a consequence of a mandate of one Government.

"That isn't a consequence of wrong decisions of one Government, not even one that has completed half of its mandate, neither a consequence of the mandates of one of the former Governments. It is a consequence of a continually badly led policy and wrongly made foundations from the very beginning", said Baranović.

The parliamentary representative spoke in the continuation about the sinergy between real producers, politics, profession and science which has been silent for years and which hasn't taken an active role in solving these problems.

"As long as farmers don't take their fate into their own hands, model themselves on their colleagues in other countries, there won't be any happiness. The state is obliged to give support, through the work of the advisory service and through certain financial programs", concluded Baranović.

The discussion about agriculture - "Croatia's agriculture . yesterday, today, tomorrow" was held as part of the Academy's 2nd Department for additional education in general politics in cooperation with CPP's Požeško-slavnoska County.
