Zagreb, 26th of March - Organized by the City of Zagreb City organization, and within the themes of Political Academy, a seminar was held on political marketing in local elections and communication with voters and the media. Topics were presented by Marija Duljković, teacher of the Academy from CPP's City organization.
Through the presentation of the themes Duljković first highlighted the impact of media on public opinion and how media create awareness of citizens with undeniable claim which was not in the media, it never happened. Starting from that fact it is necessary that all CPP representatives of local government and self-government have a fundamental knowledge of the functioning of the media, but also the basic knowledge and skills on a personal media appearances to satisfy the interest of the media through which it is only possible to communicate with the public.
Also, Duljković spoke about how some of the media are organized and how the print media work, compared to electronic media. Regarding the development of new social media and new technologies, Duljković explained the functioning of Internet portals and social networks.
Second presentation at the seminar was dedicated to communication with voters and the media, organized by representatives of the City organization in the subsidiary and its representatives in local committees and councils of district councils. The theme is of great importance, because the best way is to learn and achieve the first steps in carrying out public functions and communication with the media through the local government.
In this part of the seminar the fact that the media are not particularly interested in the news from the local government was highlighted, even to those who follow local issues. The reason for this is that the media are fighting for ratings, and the rating of visits to their site.
"It is necessary that all members of the local self-government and self-government are proactive. They must choose their own topics for the media that are interesting to the public, and must be prepared and skilled in communicating with the media", said Duljković.
If the representatives of the local administration and self-government want to bypass "blocked"media they must create the news. The easiest way to do so is to write press release about every activity in each branch, followed by good photos, which are news itself, and post it on the website and social networks.
"That's the way to wake up the interest of journalists, to request a statement or interview from us. Clearly, it is all possible if communication about the event and photos have been prepared according to the rules of the profession how we multiply stressed out at the seminar. Also before you public anything you need to send prepared materials to the City organization so that our appearance in media is attuned and better", concluded Duljković.
In preparation for the upcoming local elections in May this year, the seminar was aimed at all members of the CPP City organization, especially presidents and secretaries of branches and councilors of local councils and districts.
The participants of the seminar, during and after the presentations, have participated by asking questions and giving hints and suggestions which contributed to the success of a joint seminar.
